Easton EC90 SL Carbon Tubular Wheelset 2009: The Easton EC90 SL Tubular is equally at home on the climbs and flat stages thanks to a versatile 38mm deep full carbon rim. This feathery yet wind-slicing design isn't as susceptible to crosswinds either. Sapim bladed spokes and internal alloy nipples further the aerodynamics and weight savings while ensuring uncompromising strength.

18 spokes are laced radially in front while the rear has 24 spokes laced radially non-drive and 2X on the drive side. The R4 SL hubs roll on grade 3 hybrid ceramic bearings. The R4 SL freehub body leaves only the splines needed for transmission for weight savings up to 22 grams and also features a ceramic bearing (non SL freehub body has standard bearings and splines). Choose from Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo compatible splines.

Our brake-test rig has been known to literally melt competitor’s wheels under braking forces. Sidewalls can flex up to 1mm outwards. EC90SL clinchers with ThermaTec™ were designed to survive this test. So far no other wheel has.

This is the world’s most advanced carbon clincher. The entire rim including sidewalls is molded into their final shape—-no post-mold machining that would weaken the structure. In our rim-impact test a bare rim takes eight, successively harder hits in the same spot. The EC90SL clincher rim is the only rim to emerge from our brutal impact test and still be rideable.
