Mavic XC-717 Rim Brake Rims: The new XC 717 from Mavic replaces the venerable X517 rim from years past. Never fear, Mavic hasn't forgotten how to make a great cross-country rim, and they don't come any better than the XC 717. It features a "hammer-hardened" technology that locally strengthens the rim in the area where the spokes exert the greatest force, improving durability.

Mavic knows that great braking performance starts with the rim surface, so the XC 717 is welded (Mavic's SUP process) and then machined (UB Control), offering a perfectly smooth braking surface for predictable, reliable performance.

  • Maxtel: Exclusive to Mavic, Maxtal aluminum alloy boosts rim strength by over 30% compared to 6106 alloy, for lighter and better performing rims.
