Rad has always equipped our electric bikes with top-tier batteries loaded with high-quality cells. Safe Shield Batteries take it one step further with thermal-resistant tech that helps prevent problems before they start — giving you and your family extra peace of mind.

Compatibility

Comes standard on the Radster Road and Radster Trail
Compatible as an upgrade or spare battery for the following models that use a semi-integrated battery: RadRunner 3 Plus, RadRover 6 Plus and RadCity 5 Plus
Not for use on non-Rad Power Bikes branded ebikes.

Installation & Use

Battery securely attaches to the bike’s battery terminal and is locked into place with your ebike's included keys.
Batteries come with a universal key that can be used to lock and unlock the battery to your ebike. Please note that universal keys are not unique to your ebike battery and may work with a variety of locks, including on other Rad ebikes. Universal keys do not offer the highest level of security compared to dedicated or unique key locks. We do not recommend leaving your battery affixed to your ebike in public unattended as it may pose a risk of battery theft.

Safe Shield Explained
Ebike batteries are made up of multiple battery cells. Each cell in the Safe Shield Battery is separated by a special heat-absorbing resin. If something goes wrong with one cell, the protective resin is designed to prevent a chain reaction.

Long story short, Safe Shield batteries are designed to stop a thermal runaway event before it happens.
